Do we have to wait for 8 hours or until “leather-dry” before stenciling?Updated 12 hours ago

It’s best to wait until your clay has become “leather hard” before stencilling. Leather hard is a stage in pottery where the clay has dried enough to hold its shape but is still moist enough to be worked on, such as carving, stencilling, or adding texture.

This stage typically occurs several hours after the clay has been formed, but it can vary depending on the type of clay and environmental conditions.  It’s best to test your clay every few hours by pressing gently on it.  If it holds its shape and starts to feel leathery in texture, it’s ready.
