Do I need a kiln?

You don’t need an expensive kiln to get started with pottery from home. We use air-dry clay which enables you to sculpt and dry your masterpiece at home.

Can I get my piece fired at a local kiln?

There is always a risk of breakages when firing clay pieces. If you intend to fire your finished piece, we recommend reaching out to your local pottery beforehand. This way, they can advise the best approach when using their kiln. Once you are happy

How long does it take to dry?

The clay dries by itself when left alone for 24-48 hours. The drying time will vary depending on how thick the piece is. Do not put your piece in the oven or apply heat to try to speed this process up as this will likely lead to cracks in your master

Is it food safe (eg. mugs / plates)?

No, our clay is not food safe, therefore it cannot be used to make food / drink vessels.

How long does the clay last?

The clay lasts up to 6 months in its original packaging. If you are only using some of the clay and would like to save some, we recommend wrapping it in cling film and storing it in an airtight container.

Is it waterproof?

We have developed a new and innovative waterproof varnish that allows you to create functional pottery pieces from home (not food safe). It's easy to apply, non streaky, non sticky and offers amazing coverage. How to use our varnish:

Is it safe for children or pregnant women?

Our kits are well enjoyed by all ages but we generally say our kits are suitable for 8+ years. However, with careful supervision, the clay can be used with younger children.

How do I clean it up?

The clay is very easy to clean off most non porous surfaces using a wet cloth. Got it on your clothes? No problem. Our clay can be removed from clothing with just water! You’ll need to be more careful when working with acrylic paints and varnish, as

How do I paint and varnish my creations?

Once the clay is bone dry, first apply your white paint. Once that is dry you can add any coloured paint decorations, followed by the varnish which is the final step.

What paints can I use?

You can buy acrylic paints on our website to use on our clay with a choice between classic, pastel, earth and floral tones.

What can I use to work on?

We recommend working on a non-porous surface that the clay will not get stuck to, that way you can wipe it down easily when you're finished.

Yes, our clay is vegan-friendly.

Is your clay gluten free?

Our clay is gluten-free and is created, processed and stored in a gluten-free environment. However, like all things, there is always a small risk of contamination and we do not specifically test for the presence of gluten in the products before we sh
